The term beauty sleep generally refers to going
to bed early in order to get a full 8 hours or
more of sleep with the idea that we'll wake
up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. But for the
savvy skin care enthusiast, beauty sleep entails
a little more than simply jumping into bed at
9:00 p.m. Having a nighttime skin care routine
is paramount to healthy skin. Here's why.
REMOVES IMPURITIES FROM THE DAY
Think about everything your skin has gone through on any
given day. You've applied products that have likely been sitting
on your face for more than 12 hours, some of which may be
comedogenic, or pore-clogging (i.e., foundation, makeup,
sunscreen, etc.) If you've been outdoors, you may have been
exposed to harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, high
winds, or air pollution if you live in a big city. If you've been out
and about running errands, you've likely worked up a sweat.
