The term beauty sleep generally refers to going to bed early in order to get a full 8 hours or more of sleep with the idea that we'll wake up bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. But for the savvy skin care enthusiast, beauty sleep entails a little more than simply jumping into bed at 9:00 p.m. Having a nighttime skin care routine is paramount to healthy skin. Here's why. REMOVES IMPURITIES FROM THE DAY Think about everything your skin has gone through on any given day. You've applied products that have likely been sitting on your face for more than 12 hours, some of which may be comedogenic, or pore-clogging (i.e., foundation, makeup, sunscreen, etc.) If you've been outdoors, you may have been exposed to harmful ultraviolet (UV) rays from the sun, high winds, or air pollution if you live in a big city.
